When you are planning for a vacation, the question about what to do with your pets is a difficult one. You might not know what you want to do with them, or what you can do with them. With that in mind, here is what you can do with your pets when you go on vacation.
Get A Pet Sitter
One of the options available to you is to get a pet sitter. A pet sitter will come and visit your pets once or two times per day and look after them. What sort of pet you have will determine how often they need to come and what they do with them. For example, if you have a dog then they might visit the dog a few times each day to feed and walk it. Whereas if you have a cat, then it won’t need walking, but it will still need feeding. You can get a friend or family member to do this for you, or you can hire a professional. While a professional will cost you money, you know that they are confident in their skills to deal with your pet and look after it properly and this might be something that your friends and family are able to do.
Get A House Sitter
If a pet sitter sounds like a good idea, but you want someone there all the time with your pet, then you could get a house sitter. They are similar to a pet sitter, but they live in your house while you are on holiday. This means that your pet will have constant company and someone to look after it at all times. This might be a friend or family member who is able to live in your house while you are on vacation, or it might be a professional house sitter. The professional will again cost you money, but it might be the only option that you have. A house sitter is a great choice if your pet needs a lot of attention or is prone to getting lonely.
Leave Them With A Friend or Neighbor
If you do have willing family members, friends or even neighbors, then you could always leave your with them while you are on vacation. The pet would live at their house for the duration of your vacation. This would mean they don’t have to disturb their day to visit your pet at your home and your pet will get far more attention if they cannot house sit for you. This can be a great option for what you can do with your pet when you go on vacation.
Leave Them With A Professional Service
If you don’t have friends, neighbors or family members who can look after your pet while you are away, and don’t want to hire a pet or house sitter, then you can always leave them with a professional service. A lot of vets will offer a service where you can leave your pet with them while you are on holiday, so ask a veterinarian for more information about this. If you have a dog, then you can leave them at kennels, and if you have a cat, there is always a cattery. These are have lots of other animals there so your pet will not get lonely. These kinds of things can be a great option if you aren’t sure what you are going to do with your pet when you go on vacation.
Take Them With You
The final option available to you is to take your pet with you. This won’t be appropriate or possible for some kinds of pet such as reptiles, birds and insects. However, if you have a dog or a cat, then it is perfectly reasonable to take them on holiday for you. If you take your dog on holiday, then they can enjoy the holiday location, and you can enjoy it with them. If you have children, then it can make the vacation even more special because they have their beloved pet with them throughout. If you do take your pet on vacation with you, make sure that you have consulted your pet and that it is safe for them to travel and be in the location where you are going. Your vet will also be able to provide you with any information and guidance on how to transport them and what they might need throughout the vacation. However, it can turn a good holiday into a great one by having your pet their with you.
