Are you thinking about bringing a new pet into the family? Maybe it’s for a child of a certain age, or perhaps you’re an animal lover who just loves to have animals around. In the post below there is a short list of animals that make great pets. These animals are clever, friendly, and easy to look after if you have the right set up. Read on to get inspired and excited about a new pet this summer.Â
BunniesÂ
Bunnies come in all shapes and sizes. Some are large with floppy ears, others are smaller and their ears are a bit shorter. Bunnies are very fluffy, soft, and friendly. They are also very quiet and clean, a bit like cats.Â
A bunny makes a great pet for someone living in a small flat or an apartment, because they don’t need a lot of space to live. They also look after themselves well and don’t need much maintenance making them suitable beginners pets.Â
PigsÂ
Did you know that pigs are like dogs in many ways, but sometimes smarter? Pigs understand their names when called. They can learn and perform tricks, bark when they see an intruder and squeal when they want to say hello.Â
Pigs get a reputation for being dirty animals but that’s only because of their skincare routine. Pigs use the mud in their pen to protect their skin. For pets, pigs come in different sizes, but larger ones will need a bigger pen.Â
HorsesÂ
If pigs have a bit of a reputation for being a lower class animal (unfairly) then horses are probably the opposite. This is a grand image around horses. They have been used for thousands of years by Kings, Queens, and aristocrats.Â
But you don’t need to have a title to keep a horse as a pet. They make excellent pets too. Horses are intelligent, friendly, and fun. You can not only get to know your horse in its stable and feedbit using hay bales you can also learn to ride the horse.Â
ChickensÂ
If you eat chicken you might not want to anymore after you have some in your backyard with names given to them that they recognise. That’s right, chickens are actually quite smart and they are friendly and loyal too.Â
Chickens are very clean animals, not what you might expect, but their pens don’t need to be cleaned out that often. You also get fresh, vegan friendly eggs on a regular basis, perfect if you don’t want to buy them from the battery farm markets.Â
MiceÂ
If you want a pet that’s easy to handle, friendly, smart, and doesn’t require a heap of work to look after, then consider mice. You can have as many mice as your space or cage can manage, so it’s up to you.Â
Mice are interesting animals. They are nocturnal creatures who like to burrow tunnels in the cage and eat pretty much anything you put in there. They are quite clean and learn to use their toilet. The best thing is you can give them cool names.Â
