Question: Mixed-Breeds & Destructive Behavior
“My nine-month old female, all-American dog is very sweet and intelligent, but we have a serious problem on our hands. When we leave her alone in the house, she literally destroys everything in sight. She seems to have a craving for destruction. My mother thinks that the dog does this out of spite, simply because we leave her alone. What could be the problem?”
Answer:
In some respects your dog may very well be acting out of spite, but you mustn’t overlook boredom. At only nine months old, you must not lose sight of the fact that you have a baby on your hands.
Any baby, human or canine, is going to get into trouble if left unsupervised. It will help if you leave plenty of toys around for her to play with and to chew on. Leaving a radio playing may also help as well.
