Question: Dog Passing Bad Gas
“My fifteen-month old Basset Hound has a problem of passing gas. It is quite annoying and can be very embarrassing when I have guests over to the house. A veterinarian has advised me to alter his diet, but I have him on a diet considered to be the best as suggested by professional breeders, and it includes ground beef. Could this be an allergy problem?”
Answer:
Your dog’s problem, which is medically referred to as “flatulence”, is most generally caused by too much meat in the diet. The ground beef in your dog’s case should be suspected. I would recommend a drastic reduction in the amount of ground beef he receives daily, and in no case shall meet or exceed one third of the dog’s ration.
