February 3, 2018-Reisterstown ,MD – Go Nanook! Nanook, a Baltimore Humane Society alumnus, will be playing in Animal Planet’s first-ever Dog Bowl, a newly added furry football competition for older dogs on Saturday, February 3rd at 8:00 p.m.
One of only 50 shelter dogs selected throughout the country, Nanook is on Team Paws competing in Animal Planet’s first-ever spinoff of ‘Puppy Bowl’ featuring adult shelter dogs. Adult dogs living in shelters are frequently looked over for younger puppies. So Animal Planet is hoping that Dog Bowl will highlight the pluses of adopting a senior pet.
Nanook, an eight year old Husky, was adopted from Baltimore Humane Society shortly after Animal Planet was selected to be in the Dog Bowl. He’s the perfect example of a happy ending. The no-kill shelter transferred Nanook from a shelter in Pennsylvania where his fate was in serious question. Now he’s living the life with local WPOC radio personality, Jeff St.Pierre from the Laurie DeYoung show. Nanook is just one of many senior pets hoping to find loving homes.
Baltimore Humane Society is also celebrating the Puppy Bowl and Hallmark’s Kitten Bowl. Famed Puppy Bowl referee, Dan Schachner, will be the honoree at the no-kill shelter’s annual Black Tie & Tails Gala fundraiser at The Grand Lodge in Hunt Valley on March 17th. The public is invited to this unique gala hosted by WMAR news anchor Jamie Costello where guests often bring dogs dressed in tuxedos and gowns. Tickets and information are at https://501auctions.com/blacktieandtails.
The shelter is also celebrating Hallmark Channel’s Kitten Bowl on Sunday, February 4 at noon by offering free cat and kitten adoption along with free giveaways featuring Kitten Bowl trading cards throughout the weekend on February 3rd and 4th.
