HGTV is going to the dogs! The network is pre-empting its regular schedule of shows from 8 pm   12 am ET on Saturday, August 19 to air  The Dog Days of Summer.   This special block of programming will be entirely devoted to our favorite furry friends!  Also, HGTV.com will launch a special  Creature Comforts  package dedicated to finding the most elaborate and fun pet set ups, including pet photos submitted by ever-dedicated pet owners from around the country.  It will also feature hot new pet products from the Pet Expo, as well as other great links to help you spoil your best friend.

HGTV.com s package can be found at: http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/pac_ctnt_988/text/0,,HGTV_22056_50805,00.html.

Dog Days of Summer   Block Party Event:

8:00  pm   Premiere of Doggone Design
9:00  pm   Premiere of Pet Expo 2006
10:00 pm   Encore presentation of Pet Pads
11:00 pm   Encore presentation of Pet Palaces

Doggone Design
Custom-built doggie digs are the newest rave for America s pampered pooches and Doggone Design highlights what dog lovers will do to create a fabulous home for their furry companions, including hiring top-notch architects and designers.  In addition, viewers will see the amazing luxury products that pet lovers buy to spoil their dogs!

These extreme pet estates have to be seen to be believed...please check out the attached pictures for just a few examples.

Pet Expo 2006
Tava Smiley (I Want That! Kitchens) and John Sencio (Cash in the Attic) will shine the HGTV spotlight on the latest and greatest in products and accessories for the family pet, selected from the more than 700 exhibitors who attended the Global Pet Expo in San Diego. HGTV s trade show line up already includes such industry events as the International Builders  Show and the National Hardware Show, but the network is now expanding viewer access to key shows within other niche markets, including the booming pet products industry.

The hosts will examine the ever-growing trend towards  humanizing  pets by focusing on several product categories including play toys, bedding, dinnerware/snacks, habitats, travel accessories, fashion, grooming/beauty, training tools, high-tech gadgets and luxury items for pampered pets.  And just so the humans don t get jealous, there will be a segment devoted to personalized goods for proud pet owners.

Check out just a sample of the cool items that will be showcased:

Luxurious, hand-made Italian doggie carriers.  No doubt Paris Hilton s pampered pooch already has one of these. They can be adorned with Swarovsky crystals, or made of genuine ostrich, alligator or other hip skins and retail for as much as $12,000!

Doggie sunglasses.  These come with a matching set of shades for the owner too, so the duo can dazzle everyone with their coordinated  J. Lo  look!

Hawaiian dog clothing.  Great for those summer luaus, this line of theme apparel includes everything from dresses to ponchos to sunhats to even -  no kidding   doggie speedos!

Doggie snore cure.  This all-natural remedy is great for owners who like to snuggle up at night with their dogs, but hate when Spot s snoring keeps them up all night!

Pet Pads
This program will take viewers on a journey to the homes of people who love their pets so much that they design their homes specifically for their four-legged friends. From a buffalo in the living room and pigs in the den to doggie bedrooms and cat tunnels, Pet Pads takes you across the country to see just far pet lovers will go for their beloved companions.

Pet Palaces
Similar to Pet Pads, this is a light-hearted look at homes where structural designs have been modified or created to accommodate the needs of the owners  pampered pets.  Young pups in the audience may get some design ideas when they see the canine castle where two family dogs enjoy their own TV, a private entrance, and even have their own address!  All animal lovers will instantly relate to these pet owners who treat their canine, feline and other pet companions as members of the family - and consider their pets' needs to be as critical as their own.
